South Side Animal Hospital Veterinarians

Meet the friendly staff at South Side Animal Hospital!

This clinic has always been considered a "family practice", as the employees/owners within have always felt like family.  Dr. Joe Holder first built and opened South Side Animal Hospital (SSAH) in May of 1968 as its first owner. It since passed to previous owner, Dr. Jones, who retired in 2021 and is now under the current ownership of long-time associate veterinarian Dr. Darcie Evans.

We offer a wide range of veterinary services to our patients. SSAH is committed to providing the highest quality of veterinary care available in our industry. We are staffed with amazing veterinarians, receptionists, and technicians to accommodate all your pet needs!

Our team is committed to educating our clients in how to keep your pets healthy year round! South Side Animal Hospital stays on top of the latest advances in veterinarian technology and above all, remembers that all animals and pets need to be treated with loving care in every check-up, procedure, or surgery.

  • Darcie Evans

Dr. Darcie Evans joined South Side Animal Hospital in June 2000. She was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1996 she graduated with her bachelor's degree in biology before earning her DVM from Purdue University in 2000. Dr. Evans became partners with Dr. Jones in January 2018. Darcie is married to Tom, an IMPD officer, and they have two children, Kylee and Caleb. They have four dogs, Marty and Sully (Golden Retrievers), Samson (Cocker Spaniel), and Finnigan (Aussie) as well as four cats named Eli, Alex, Reese, and Chewy . In her free time Dr. Evans enjoys running, reading, gardening, traveling, and being with her friends and family.

  • Jennifer Ridge

Dr. Ridge received her Doctorate of Veterinary medicine from Purdue in 2019. She received her undergrad from Depauw University when she played softball.

The best and worst days Dr. Ridge's life have always involved her pups. Whether it was skipping home to celebrate the success story of a difficult case, or running home to snuggle when God called a loved one home, her constant was her four-legged best friend. She felt called to strengthen that bond of unconditional love by caring for every pet parent and their fur babies. Dr. Ridge feels it is an honor to be able to celebrate bringing home a new family member, to mourn the passing of a dear friend, and to take part in the ups and downs along life’s journey. Veterinary medicine is her passion.

In her free time she enjoys kayaking, hiking, Netflix, and reading. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is figuring out the medical puzzles of her patients and being able to help them.
