Dr. Joe Holder opened South Side Animal Hospital in May of 1968. In the early 1990’s Dr. Michael Jones partnered with Dr. Holder at SSAH, and now in 2018 Dr. Michael Jones and Dr. Darcie Evans are the current SSAH owners. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to our patients. SSAH is committed to providing the highest quality of veterinary care available in our industry. We are staffed with four amazing veterinarians, four receptionist, and six technicians to accommodate all your pet needs!

Dr. Michael Jones came to South Side Animal Hospital in 1985, after practicing in Greensburg, Indiana. Dr. Jones was born and raised in Madison, Indiana. His father was a veterinarian and he knew he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Mike graduated from Purdue University in 1983. In the 90's, he became sole owner of South Side Animal Hospital. Dr. Jones is married to Lynn and they have three adult children, Katie, Lindsey (Cicker), and Alex (Samantha). They have one granddaughter, Lily Grace. Mike and Lynn own Izzie, a Maltese/Shih Tzu mix. In his free time, Dr, Jones enjoys going to Colts, Pacers, and Purdue games, traveling, going to church, and being with his friends and family. His favorite part of being a veterinarian is seeing animals improve in health and experiencing the appreciation of the owner.
Dr. Darcie Evans joined South Side Animal Hospital in June 2000. She was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. In 1996 she graduated with her bachelor's degree in biology before earning her DVM from Purdue University in 2000. Dr. Evans became partners with Dr. Jones in January 2018. Darcie is married to Tom, an IMPD officer, and they have two children, Kylee and Caleb. They have four dogs, Marty and Sully (Golden Retrievers), Samson (Cocker Spaniel), and Finnigan (Aussie) as well as a cat named Eli. In her free time Dr. Evans enjoys running, reading, gardening, traveling, and being with her friends and family.
Dr. Joe Holder opened South Side Animal Hospital on May 15, 1968. Dr. Holder graduated in 1963 from Purdue University, which was Purdue's very first graduating class for veterinarians. Joe has two adult children, Debbie and Bruce and is a grandfather and great-grandfather. He owns two standard poodles, Toby and Ivy. He is semi-retired and still does surgeries one day a week at South Side Animal Hospital. In his free time, he loves to ride his Harley Davidson, travel, go out to eat, and spend time with his friends and family.
Dr. Ashley Healey joined South Side Animal Hospital in June 2017. An Indiana native, she received a bachelor's degree in biology from Ball State University in 2010 before earning her DVM from Purdue University in 2014. Before joining South Side Animal Hospital, Dr. Healey practiced in Westfield for three years. Ashley and her husband, Doug, live in downtown Indianapolis with their two cats, Vinnie and Stella. She enjoys working out, going on mission trips, watching the Cubs and Colts, and making memories with her friends and family.
